International women’s Day

On International Women’s Day, “Gender Platform Bangladesh” has organized a round table discussion on 08 March, titled “Equality today for sustainable tomorrow on Prevention of All forms of violence against Women”. In the program Hon’ble Minister, Mr. M A Mannan, MP, Ministry of Planning, Mr. Mujibul Haque Chunnu, MP, Chief -Parliamentary Standing Committee of Ministry of Labour & Employment, Barrister Shamim Haider Patwary, MP, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment and Member of Standing Committee on Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ms. Jesmin Ara Begum, Rtd. Judge, National Human Rights Commission, Mr. Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, Vice President, BKMEA, Ms. Mauli Azad, Deputy Director, University Grants Commission, Dr. Zobaida Nasrin, Professor, Department of Anthropology, Dhaka University, representatives from different CSOs and representatives from the Gender Platform (AWAJ, BILS, BLF, KN, BNWLA, Fair Wear, MFNV) participated in the discussion.

In the discussion, it was observed that the participants presented different scenarios of existing sexual harassment and gave importance to the enactment of the law on “Prevention and Protection of Sexual Harassment at Workplace, Ratify ILO convention 190, until the law not enacted, enforcement of The High Court Guideline (2009) to achieve the title of the roundtable discussion.
